Who is Dax Shepard and What is His Age?
Dax Randall Shepard (birth name) was born on January 2, 1975, in Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan. His father, Dave Robert Shepard was a car dealer while his mother, Laura LaBo worked at General Motors (GM). Seems they both had this “thing” for automobiles; one would immediately suspect that their union would last forever, but life happens. When Shepard was just three years old, his parents went their separate ways. The cause of the split isn’t what Shepard is so keen on talking about in public. But it must’ve had a toll on little Dax. Little wonder he seems to be putting in all his effort in his union with Kristen Bell. Some mistakes aren’t worth repeating.
In 1993, aged 13, he graduated from Walled Lake Central High School in 1993. He then proceeded to The Groundlings school. After spending a few years attending Santa Monica College and West Los Angeles College, Shepard moved to UCLA; graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology. Although he wasn’t so drawn to acting while growing up, like Will Ferrel, he was a class clown.
Shepard landed his first ever movie role in 1996 after moving to California. He’d been there for only a year before learning about auditions for The Groundlings improv troupe from a friend. He juggled between The Groundlings and his academic work at UCLA. Five years down the road, Shepard joined the Sunday Company of The Groundlings. And from 2003, Shepard became a popular face for his work in the TV show, Punk’d. Dax also appeared in the 2004 comedy film, Without a Paddle, alongside Seth Green and Matthew Lillard. A year later, he starred as The Astronaut in the 2005 Sci-Fi film, Zathura: A Space Adventure. It was in 2006 he made an epoch-making appearance in the much-applauded comedy film, Employee of the Month. He appeared alongside Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson in the film.
In the same period, 2006, Shepard appeared in more films; and was the lead character in Let’s Go to Prison; his first lead role so far. But that wouldn’t be his last. He also appeared as the lead character in the 2008 comedy film, Baby Mama. Soon, Dax Shepard began to write scripts that were acted by other actors and himself. He script-wrote for Get ‘Em Wet, later produced by Paramount Pictures. Since 2010 Shepard has written, directed, produced and starred in films like Brother’s Justice, Hit and Run, and CHiPs.
He also played a supporting role in the 2010 romantic comedy film When in Rome, in which he starred with Kristen Bell, whom he later married. In the five years that followed, Shepard was one of the main cast for the NBC drama series Parenthood, where he appeared as Crosby Braverman. In 2014; Dax Shepard played a supporting role in The Judge. In September of the same year, Dax and his wife, Kristen Bell, starred in a commercial for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The short ad went so viral that it grossed over 20 million views on YouTube. What followed was another commercial for the Christmas and New year season of that year.
In a surprise move on Valentine’s day in 2018, Shepard launched his first ever podcast, Armchair Expert with co-host Monica Padman. It explores the story of famous guests which have included his wife Kristen Bell (why not), Ashton Kutcher, and Joy Bryant. In mid-2018 the show released its first episode of “Experts on Expert.” The show featured in-depth interviews with guests who are experts in their fields, Shepard and Monica Padman ran the interviews. Some of the featured guests include Wendy Mogel, David Sedaris, and Jon Favreau. It quickly gained popularity, becoming the popular new podcast on iTunes in 2018.
Net Worth
The comedy guru has a net worth of $12 million and is known for his unique automobile collection. In 2018 alone, the actor acquired an ATV RZR, Lincoln Continental car, and a Yamaha R1 bike all valued at over $95,000. The same year saw Dax acquiring a new apartment in the highbrow neighborhood of Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California. The home reportedly cost $4.3 million. He currently lives there with his wife, Kristen Bell.
Brother
Dax Shepard has an older brother, David and a younger half-sister, Carly Hatter, who also appeared in a few movies he directed. Although Shepard lived in a lot of neighborhoods around suburban Detroit, he was raised majorly in Milford. So far, his mother had been through four different marriages, leaving Shepard with three stepfathers.
His Wife, Kids
Shepard’s relationship hasn’t been the low-key type, as he’s been pretty plain about the details. Shepard met actress Kristen Bell at a friend’s birthday party. In a stroke of fate, the two began dating in late 2007. The couple later announced their engagement barely three years later in January 2010.
But theirs wasn’t the male-proposal kind of marriage. Kristen Bell boldly defied the norm when she asked Shepard to marry her. They both exchange vows in a low-key, all black, ceremony at the Beverly Hills County Clerk’s Office on October 17, 2013. All black! Weird, right? But that’s the Shepards for you. Besides, who gave burials the monopoly of the black? In all, the event cost a little over $142.
Their union has produced two beautiful daughters. They welcomed the first, Lincoln Bell Shepard, on March 28, 2013. And a year later in 2014, they welcomed their second child, Delta Bell Shepard, on December 19.
